Explore Opportunities for Maine Technology, Products, and Services at Australia Market Briefing

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine International Trade Center (MITC) is hosting an "Australia Market Opportunities Briefing" on Friday, March 5th, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in Portland.  Australia is one of the world's most open markets, and the Australian economy has grown faster than any other industrialized country for the last decade.  This market briefing provides a unique forum for Maine businesses to explore potential trade opportunities with Australia.

The featured speaker is Keith Kirkham, Acting Senior Commercial Officer, U.S. Commercial Service - Australia & New Zealand.  While Mr. Kirkham is currently based in Sydney, he brings first-hand knowledge of the Maine business scene as the former Director of International Commerce for the State of Maine.  Congressman Tom Allen is also scheduled to participate in the program and will provide closing remarks.

This market briefing program will include an overview of the Australian economy, a discussion of market drivers and opportunities, and the Australian-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (AUSTA).  The U.S. Commercial service has identified the following industries as especially good prospects in the current Australian market:  automotive parts, biotechnology, computers, environmental products and services, IT services, medical equipment, security equipment, software, telecommunications equipment and services, and tourism.

There is no cost to attend this program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce.  However, advance RSVP is requested.  For more information and to RSVP, please contact Cheryl Rau at (207) 541-7455 (email: rau@mitc.com) or visit the website:  http://www.mitc.com.
