Using Letters of Credit to Ensure
Payment for International Shipments

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine International Trade Center (MITC) is offering a practical seminar for Maine businesses that are relatively new to international trade and want to ensure they get paid for shipments.   The seminar entitled "Letters of Credit" will be held on Wednesday, December 10th, from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Bangor.

Successful exporting includes obtaining international orders, shipping the goods properly, and getting paid for the shipments.  Letters of Credit are one of the safest ways of ensuring that your company will be paid.

This half-day  seminar provides a detailed review of the different types and applications of letters of credit from experts in international banking and freight forwarding, as well as an understanding of bank and freight forwarder involvement in the flow of documents and payments.

The program  is part of the Eaton Peabody Global Commerce Series  and will be held at the Richard E. Dyke Center for Family Business at Husson College.  Cost to attend is $30 for MITC members and $60 for non-members.

For more information or to register, please contact Cheryl Rau at (207) 541-7455 (email: rau@mitc.com) or visit the website:  http://www.mitc.com.
