Industry representatives participated in over 100 matchmaking meetings while in South Korea and Japan. These sessions were organized by the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service and FoodExport in-country staff. Local industry experts in each sector worked for weeks to prescreen potential customers for the Maine businesses and organizations.
The education sector was particularly well represented, as many students from Japan and South Korea come to the U.S. to for preparatory school or university studies. Delegates from the seafood, agriculture, wood pulp, landscaping machinery, IT, logistics, law, consumer goods, building products and window industries have estimated $3 million in projected sales as a result of the Trade Mission.
