The Maine International Trade Center led a trade mission to South Korea in the spring of 2011 with the twin goals of promoting the state’s educational institutions and renewable energy assets. The Trade Center’s education program StudyMaine played a major role in the spring mission. Over 70,000 Korean students attend American higher education institutions, with thousands more enrolled in high schools.
Maine delegates on this mission had the opportunity to participate in one-on-one matchmaking meetings coordinated by the U.S. Commercial Service. Delegates also toured educational institutions/private companies/research institutions and met with Korean officials to gain first-hand knowledge of the market environment. The Trade Center hosted a State of Maine reception to promote the state as a place for Korean companies interested in the northeast to invest.
