Remarkable Venue
Eartha is the world’s largest rotating and revolving globe, located within the former headquarters of the DeLorme mapping corporation in Yarmouth, Maine. Garmin purchased the company in 2016.
Eartha mimics the Earth’s movements mounted on a custom-designed, mechanized cantilever arm and simulates one day’s revolution and rotation every 18 minutes. Completed in 1998 after two years of planning and construction, the globe weighs approximately 5,600 pounds, and has a diameter of over 41 feet. Inside a three-story glass atrium, visitors can marvel at Eartha from three different observation levels, roughly at the South Pole, the Equator, and Greenland.

MITC 30th Anniversary Commemorative Book
In August, we celebrate MITC’s 30th anniversary! To commemorate this milestone, we’ve compiled a digital book to honor the history, evolution, and impact of Maine’s international business development organization.
In the process, we were grateful and humbled to receive tributes from many businesses and partners, In addition, the book includes letters from Senator Angus King, Governor Janet Mills, past MITC Presidents Perry Newman and Janine Bisaillon Cary, founding MITC Board Chair Ward Graffam and Vice Chair Jeanne Hulit, and current MITC Board Chair Jason Lundy, as well as a complete list of our annual award winners and timeline of trade missions.
